The history of Lamborghini dates back to 1963, when Ferruccio Lamborghini, an Italian entrepreneur and tractor manufacturer, founded the company. The first Lamborghini car, the 350 GT, was introduced in 1964, and it was powered by a V12 engine designed by the company's chief engineer, Giotto Bizzarrini.
Over the next few years, Lamborghini continued to develop new models, including the Miura, which was launched in 1966 and is considered by many to be the first supercar. The Miura was followed by the Espada, Islero, Jarama, and Urraco.
In the 1970s, Lamborghini faced financial difficulties and was forced to sell the company to a Swiss businessman named Georges-Henri Rossetti. Rossetti later sold Lamborghini to a group of Indonesian investors, who eventually sold the company to Chrysler in 1987.
Under Chrysler's ownership, Lamborghini introduced the Diablo, which was produced from 1990 to 2001. In 1998, Chrysler sold Lamborghini to the Volkswagen Group, which is still the owner of the company today.
Since being acquired by Volkswagen, Lamborghini has continued to produce high-performance sports cars, including the Murcielago, Gallardo, Huracan, and Aventador. In addition to its sports car lineup, Lamborghini also introduced the Urus SUV in 2018, which has become one of the company's most popular models.
